Monday November 19, 2018

The 2018 Energy in Emerging Markets Case Competition finals took place at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business during the university’s interdisciplinary Energy Week event. The competition challenge was to provide a market entrance strategy for off-grid developer PowerGen Renewable Energy to expand into West Africa. The Kenan-Flagler team, which consisted of MBA students Joseph Gadient, Bradley Harris, Ryan Swift, Kyle Tonnesan, and Jordan Holliday, were given one week to formulate their solution to the case challenge and were notified on October 10th that their team made it to the round 2. The Kenan-Flagler team presented their solution to a panel of industry judges during the Duke University Energy Week on the morning of November 6th. The team then advanced to the final round that evening, which was open to the public, where they finished 2nd place in the challenging competition.
